Sheila is a textile artist who enjoys making hand stitched books. The surface designs on the covers are created individually from natural leaf prints, acrylic mono prints and from fragments of vintage fabrics. The fabric is then waxed to protect the surface.
The paper used to make the signatures in the books is usually watercolour paper so can be used for wet and dry techniques or sometimes cartridge paper suitable for drawing and sketching.
The decorative spines are stitched by hand in traditional styles of book binding. Each book is individually labelled with information on how it has been made.
Sheila’s book are blank, designed to be used a sketchbooks, journals or notebooks so that they become personal to the user.
