Richard spent 10 years as an architect, and most of his career as a designer and maker of contemporary furniture.  He has been making ceramics for several years. The forms he makes are influenced by his previous design work in that he looks for clean lines and elegance, seeking refinement in thrown and hand built pieces with simple glazes. He also makes small male and female torsos, and fires some pots in a raku kiln, where the glaze effects can be stunning.
